On Tuesday 8 December, one of our Year 13 students, Emma D. featured in a global virtual choir that included students and teachers from 80 different countries to kick off the International Baccalaureate (IB) Virtual Conference 2020. Performing to the lyrics and music of Michael Jackson’s “Heal the World”, the choir sang messages of hope to the entire IB community, which was conducted by Mr. Harold Molina, IBDP Coordinator of the Yorkín School in Costa Rica.
Excitingly, Emma D. was chosen to do the sign language in the video as part of a global DP community, activity and service project. Emma learnt sign language as part of iCAS and has also supported our SENCO with teaching it throughout the past few months.
Emma D. said: “It was absolutely amazing taking part in the virtual choir with so many other IB students and teachers from around the world! I hope that there will be more projects like this in the future.”
Jo Sale, Vice Principal, Impington International College, said: “Our unique enrichment programme, iCAS, supports students’ personal development and wellbeing and offers them the chance to engage in a wide range of experiences. It’s been fantastic to see Emma develop her understanding and passion of sign language and it’s an incredibly exciting achievement to go on to perform in front of such a huge audience at the IB Virtual Conference – she should be very proud. I look forward to seeing more appearances of our students in the future!”
